Here are some lovely examples of finished pieces from the Resin and Button Jewellery workshops held on Saturday 5th March at Manchester Craft and Design Centre.

All the outcomes were fantastic and really personal to the maker. I had a lovely day with all the ladies involved - thank you!

After a well deserved break, and frankly a bit of a winter hibernation! Magpie Arts are back with more workshops at the lovely Manchester Craft and Design Centre plus Silver Jewellery making and Silver Enamelling at our studio in Ancoats.

Over the next few months we have hen parties galore! Is everyone getting married this summer?! Doing a workshop can be a great way to kick off your Hen Party celebrations, and you also get to make something to wear for that inevitable night out. Perhaps something to match your 'L' plates and sash?! We will throw is some bubbly and nibbles to make sure its a real party. The Great Northern

So the Great Northern came and went... after all that planning! We had a great weekend and spoke to some lovely people. Hope anyone who attended enjoyed all the fantastic work on offer.

Some more lovely silver jewellery made at our Beginners Silver Jewellery Course last Saturday. Well done Susie and Claire! Susie has already looked into buying her own equipment to carry on with at home, I am impressed! Resin Jewellery

Yesterday our Resin Jewellery workshop kicked off with the first session. We had a lovely bunch of ladies attending both the morning and afternoon session, I had such a fun day! Everyone brought their own small objects to set into the resin, from mountains of buttons to teeth (yes really!) Now we've just got to wait until next week to pop them out of the moulds and see how they all turn out. Exciting! I'll keep you posted.....

Well we have been busy bees! As some of you may have seen on the fantastic new flyers, we are holding a stand at this years Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair. So we are busy sorting out our programme of workshops for that weekend and leading right up to Christmas (eeeek!) Watch this space.

In the meantime................

We have one space left on our Silver Enamelling course on August 15th - book now to avoid disappointment, it's set to be a packed and informative day with Nicola!

We also have spaces left on our Silver Charm Bracelet workshop where you will make you own bracelet plus 2 charms to get you started on your collection.

An extra date for your diary - our next Silver Jewellery making course will be held on Saturday 4th September. This is a new date so 4 places are still available!

On Saturday Magpie Arts held a private jewellery making workshop for a group of 20 hens! It was a 2 hour bangle making workshop which kicked off their weekend full of fun activities. What a great way to start your hen party!

We would like to invite you to the AWOL Open Studios event on Thurs 1st July 2010 (4pm until 9pm).
AWOL Studios will host an Open Studios of its 41 Arts Studios, and give a preview of its 20 New Studios. Established in 2001, AWOL Studios have been home to various local artists specialising in areas such as photography, ceramics, jewellery making, fashion and graphic design.
Come and join us for drinks and snacks and take a look around the secretive world of the Artist's Studio!

Workshop at the Whitworth

This Saturday 19th June Zoe will be running a workshop as part of the Whitworth Art Gallery's new Adult Programme. The 3rd Saturday of the month will see 'Crafternoon Tea' from 2-4pm. Enjoy a cuppa and try your hand at art and craft techniques. This week:

Come along and make some lovely costume jewellery with Zoe from Magpie Arts. Magpie Arts deliver jewellery making workshops at various locations across Manchester. To tie in with the Whitworth’s ‘Wall’s are talking’ exhibition we will create fabulous statement pendants and brooches using patterned papers teamed with lace, ribbons and buttons. We will look at layering techniques to create your own unique piece. A fantastic opportunity to get creative on a Saturday afternoon!

Today's Workshop

Today's workshop was Silver Jewellery Making for Beginners run by Zoe. The lovely ladies attending were Danielle, Kelly and Claire. Each person designed and made a silver pendant on a chain in the morning using traditional silversmithing techniques. In the afternoon we all made silver linked bracelets. It was a great day and everyone was really happy with the outcomes!
This workshop is £100 inclusive of all materials and is limited to a maximum of 4 people.

Hello! Welcome to our brand new blog. Here we will keep everyone updated with our new, upcoming workshops and anything myself and Nicola are working on individually.

We are currently putting together our whole summer programme spanning July, August and September and taking us right up to the fantastic Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair in October. Exciting!

These workshops include: Resin Jewellery, Book Bangles, Felt necklace.......and many more and will be held at Manchester Craft and Design Centre and Franny & Filer in Chorlton.
